I have always been fascinated by the way legends grow and spread. Among the most interesting are the semi-mythic figures that take on different forms in different places. My personal favorite is St. George. Did you know:
That he is he patron saint of England where he takes the form of a victorious dragon-slaying crusader?
That he is one of the most important saints of the Coptic church where he is Egyptian and still a dragon-slayer, though not a crusader?
That he is the saint of the Ossetians in the Caucauses region of Russia where he is half-man and half horse, though still a mighty warrior and the spirit of the mountains?
