The Move: Day 3

As anyone who is likely to read this blog knows, Adrienne and I are moving to Michigan next Monday, July 9. It is a difficult process packing up the house. There are so many memories tied up in it. I sometimes find my memory triggered by some random thing I am packing up and I am carried down memory lane. We have lived here for two years now--our entire married life.

It is hard too because we didn't expect it to be this way.

The house is a wreck right now. It's a good thing nobody is coming to look at the house. There are boxes everywhere and our things are strewn about the house.

Most of the packing is done. When you start packing for a move the boxes all have order. They contain a certain class of things and are all neatly labeled--"books-fiction-A-F", "Things from David's desk", "Pots and Pans". As you progress the labels become increasingly vague and tend to be labeled by room--"Leftover books", "Random office stuff". By the end they lose all coherence and labels become irrelevant--"Sort it out when you get there", "Stuff I couldn't fit in other boxes".

glad you can laugh amidst the mixed emotions...I don't even like to think about not having you & Adrienne here--but God is good and He is our confidence--our Rock and Tower of refuge...

We moved ourselves all but the last time--it was cool just having these people come in and pack everything--except I "lost" my Viking sewing machine.
